(Apple box   E. stuartiana)Matt bark all over. Pods in clumps with no pedicel.Good timber.

*Bog gum  E. cosmophylla     Attractive flowers in April-May. Small with poor timber.

*Brown mallet   E. spatulata  Small tree with brown bark falling in plates.

*Flowering gum   E.ficifolia   Large red flowers in March-April. Grows in WA. Small tree with matt bark all over.

Grey ironbark    E. paniculata   Hard grey bark till upper branches. Durable timber.

*Karri                  E.diversicolor   Smooth bark, crusty at the base, similar to sugargum but with largeer pods. Grows small area near Albany, WA.

Lemon scented gum  E. citriodora   WW1 Honour avenue. Attractive smoothpink bark, fine drooping leaves, not palatable to sheep. Grows coastal NSW, frost tender.

manna gum    E. viminalis   Bark rough at base but smooth white upper branches shedding ribbons. Grows in Vic. Good timber.

*Narrow leafed peppermint   E. nicholii    Matt bark, drooping fine leaves.

Red ironbark   E. sideroxylon   Hard red bark till upper branches. Grows on low rainfall western slopes NSW. Poor form but ok timber.

*Spotted gum   E. maculata   Flowers in May-June. Grows coastal NSW and South QLD. Good poles and sawn timber. Frost tender.

Sugargum  E. corynocalyx (was E. cladocalyx)   WW1 Honour avenue. Flowers in Feb-March. From Kangaroo Is, Eyre Penninsula, Flinders Ranges.  Timber for poles and firewood. Hardy.  

*Tuart    E. gomocephala   Grows WA coast south of Perth. Timber very heavy, strong, durable. Hardy but frost tender.

Yate    E. cornuta   Flowers in Feb-March.  Rough basal bark, smooth upper branches, long caps on the pods. Grows near Albany, WA. Very strong timber.
